El Jarrito Mexican Restaurant
A new 7,700 SF restaurant on a 2 acre site in Katy, Texas. The program calls for 350 seats with a main dining room, a private dining room, bar and lounge, and patio dining.
The basic design concept is to treat the building massing as blocks of vibrant Mexican colors in stucco finish and to carry through into the details by the use of traditional Mexican architectural vocabulary.
The interior design concept reflects the diverse menu from different parts of the country. By treating the spaces in a hierarchical progression from the more formal private dining (Interior Mexico) to the more open and less formal patio dining with exposed wood structures and palapas treatments (coastal Mexico), the design delineates the different regions of Mexico yet merges them into a cohesive whole.
